Cura brings salad bowl kitchen demo to residents in honor of National Nutrition Month Residents at Phoebe Berks Senior Living in Wernersville, Pennsylvania learned how to prepare a lentil falafel, leafy greens and blueberry salad bowl as part of Cura’s BeWell Kitchen initiative.
R esidents at Phoebe Berks Senior Living in Wernersville, Pennsylvania were treated to a special cooking demo by the community’s foodservice provider, Cura Hospitality, in honor of Nation Nutrition Month. The demo was held through BeWell Kitchen, the teaching kitchen component of BeWell, Cura’s health and wellness platform. Cura’s Corporate Executive Chef Jason Clark and Regional Director of Nutrition & Wellness Joe Herman taught residents how to prepare a lentil falafel, leafy greens and blueberry salad bowl. Residents got to enjoy the salad after the demo and were BY BENITA GINGERELLA
given a recipe card so they could make it again at their independent living apartment or home. BeWell Kitchen was introduced in 2022 to further connect residents to their food through cooking demos and other hands-on, interactive experiences. The concept aims to encourage residents to make healthy choices through “gentle nudges” like substituting mushrooms for meat in lasagna to make a healthier version of the classic pasta dish. This is not the first year Cura has celebrated National Nutrition Month. In the past, the food management has highlighted the month through menu specials, educational opportunities and more.
